Thank you for your email of 3 June 2021 requesting the following information under the Official 
Information Act 1982 (the Act): 
 
On the 23rd of March this year , in relation to a crossing for pedestrians and cyclists over Auckland 
Harbour, the Minister of transport, Michael Woods tweeted "We’re working through the options now 
and have to do this work carefully" & "This work is well underway and it won’t be too long until we 
are able to confirm the way forward for this important project" 
 
Please provide all documentation, design options and advice provided to the minister in relation to 
this subject. 
 
In light of the significant public interest in the decisions regarding the NZ Upgrade Programme, a 
proactive release of advice provided to the Government to inform its decision making, including for the 
Northern Pathway, is currently being prepared. This will include advice in relation to identifying a 
preferred option for the Waitematā Harbour crossing section of Northern Pathway. We expect that this 
information will be published in the coming weeks.  
 
I am therefore refusing your request under section 18(d) of the Act, because the information requested 
will soon be publicly available. 
 
Under section 28 of the Act, you have the right to ask the Ombudsman to review my decision to refuse
