Dear Phillip
Request made under the Official Information Act 1982
Thank you for your email
of 1 June 2021 requesting the following information under the Official
Information Act 1982 (the Act):
Please provide detail of all the planning (including estimated costs and time frames) that has
been conducted into the feasibility of reserving one or more lanes on the Auckland Harbour
Bridge for public transport. Please compare and contrast this with the same information for
cycling and walking bridge provisions.
On 3 June 2021, Waka Kotahi NZ Transport Agency contacted you to ask that you clarify and refine
your request as it involves a large volume of information. However, to date, we have not received your
response. Therefore, I am refusing your request under section 18(f) of the Act because the information
requested cannot be made available without substantial collation or research. We will be happy to
reconsider your refined request.
Waka Kotahi is currently working on a proactive release of documents relating to the NZ Upgrade
Programme, which will include some information relating to using lanes on the existing Auckland
Harbour Bridge for walking and cycling.
Under section 28 of the Act, you have the right to ask the Ombudsman to review my decision to refuse
this request. The contact details for the Ombudsman can be located at
www.ombudsman.parliament.nz.
If you would like to discuss this reply with the Waka Kotahi, please contact Ministerial Services by
email to [email address].
Yours sincerely
