I refer to your email of 22 April 2021 in which you request the following under the Official 
Information Act 1982 (OIA): 
 
“Please release all the correspondence made between Early March 2020 & April 2021, 
related to New Zealand Government's discussion with Australia for opening up the travel 
between two countries, specifically the correspondence related to New Zealand 
Government being subjected to condemn China's actions as part of the condition for 
opening up the Australia-New Zealand corridor.” 
 
On 30 April 2021, you clarified you were only interested in correspondence between March 
2020 and April 2021 about the Trans-Tasman Safe Travel Zone that specifically relates to “the 
New Zealand Government being subjected to condemn China’s actions as part of the condition 
for opening up the Australian-New Zealand corridor”.  
 
There has been no such correspondence. Therefore, your request is refused under section 
18(e) of the OIA as the information you have requested does not exist.  
 
You have the right under section 28(3) of the OIA to seek a review of this response by the 
Ombudsman.
