Dear S Brown
Response to your request for official information
Thank you for your request under the Official Information Act 1982 (the Act) to the Ministry of
Health (the Ministry) on 12 February 2021 for:
“…the total amount of funding per year given by the Ministry of Health to Homecare
Medical (National Telehealth Service) to provide the Māori Alcohol and Drug Helpline &
the Pasifika Alcohol and Drug Helpline?”

Your request for the total amount of funding provided to the National Telehealth Service is
withheld in full under section 9(2)(b)(ii) of the Act, where its release would likely unreasonably
prejudice the commercial position of the person who supplied the information.
The 10-year agreement, however, is publicly available: www.health.govt.nz/our-work/national-
telehealth-service/national-telehealth-service-establishment-documents.

For your reference, the Ministry provides Homecare Medical with funding on a baseline contract
which is then used to deliver services. There is no individual breakdown of costs by individual
service lines, as the National Telehealth Service it is not funded in that way.
Under section 28(3) of the Act you have the right to ask the Ombudsman to review any
decisions made under this request. The Ombudsman may be contacted by email at:
[email address] or by calling 0800 802 602.
Yours sincerely
