Re: Meetings chaired by the Mayor 
 
I refer to your email, which we received on 19 December 2013, requesting information about 
Meetings chaired by the Mayor. 
 
The Mayor has been the chair of the Governing Body, CEO Review sub-committee, CCO 
Strategy and Review sub-committee and the Auckland Future Vision Committee (until 6th 
March 2012 when this committee became the Auckland Plan Committee chaired by the 
Deputy Mayor). 
 
The statistics for the Mayor’s attendance as chairperson at each of these committees is 
provided as an attachment. In summary, there were a total of 113 meetings which the Mayor 
would chair over the last council term, of these the Mayor was absent from 13 largely due to 
being engaged on other council business. 
 
Please note, these attendance figures may not fully reflect the numerous other demands on 
the Mayor in respect of performing his civic responsibilities and other council duties on 
behalf of Auckland or other absences such as sickness that made him unable to attend 
some formal meetings. 
 
I also wish to apologise for the delay in getting this response to you and draw your attention 
to your right of complaint to the Office of the Ombudsmen regarding this delay.
