Auckland Live redundancies

I refer to your request dated 11 August 2020 about Auckland Live redundancies. Thank you
for your patience while we have worked on this response.

Auckland Live have embarked on a programme of cost savings since Covid-19 started to
impact the organisation. This includes cost savings in several areas such as reducing staff
hours, driving down leave liability and having Auckland Live staff work in other RFA business
units which have continued to operate at the different alert levels.
Auckland Live permanent staff have been used to support the additional social distancing
requirements during alert levels 2 and 2.5 at other RFA business units and to undertake
duties that other business units would traditionally use casual staff to cover. Subsequently,
no staff from Auckland Live have been made redundant since 1 March 2020.
As other cost savings initiatives have been actioned instead of redundancies no documents
relating to redundancies are available.
We will continue to make cost saving decisions based on how Covid-19 related restrictions
impact Auckland Live.
You have the right to seek an investigation and review of this response by the Ombudsman.
Information about how to make a complaint is available at www.ombudsman.parliament.nz or
freephone 0800 802 602.
