https://fyi.org.nz/request/12839/respons...

"the Minister for Youth intended to reappoint all nine current members of the Partnership Fund Board for a short term", may I ask if the Minister confirm how long she would appoint the current members?

"This process and the work of the Partnership Fund Board is on hold however, due to
the effects of COVID-19" given we are already in Level 1 now, have they had any more meetings?

"For the period 1 April 2019 to 31 March 2020, the Board met three times" May I kindly request the full meeting minutes of these 3 meetings and full meeting minutes of any further meetings they had after 31 March 2020.

Yours faithfully

Dear John Luke,

Thank you for your below request, received today.

It may be helpful if a Ministry staff member familiar with the matter of
your request could have a phone call with you. This may help to clarify
the scope of your request, and may expedite a response.

Please advise whether you agree to have a phone call with a Ministry staff
member. For that purpose, may we kindly ask you to provide a phone number
by replying to this email?

Kind regards

I support the Ministry's approach to discuss your request verbally so your request is fully understood and can be properly answered and expedited.

By choosing not to speak with a representative of the Ministry, you are running the risk that the Ministry will, at worst, misinterpret your request, or at best, take a narrow view. Just because you understand what you asked for in your request, does not mean that the agency responding to your request understands what you have asked for.

A number of agencies do not bother to engage with requesters and simple provide a written response without taking the effort or courtesy of phoning the requester to clarify and confirm the request. The Ministry in this case is taking an exemplary approach for which it should be commended.

John, you can ensure transparency is maintained by writing a summary of your understanding of what was confirmed in the phone call and publishing that summary on fyi.org.nz. In any case, most readers on this site are not going to be overly interested in a phone call you have with the Ministry, but if they are, you will have published a written record of what was discussed.

John, I believe you should avail yourself and have that call with the Ministry. I believe that they are genuinely interested in helping to answer your request.

Dear John Luke

On 11 August 2020, you emailed the Ministry of Social Development
requesting, under the Official Information Act 1982, the following
information regarding a number of statements made in the Ministry of
Social Development’s OIA response provided to you on 10 June 2020:

 1. Regarding the statement: “The Minister for Youth intended to reappoint
all nine current members of the Partnership Fund Board for a short
term”: May I ask if the Minister confirm how long she would appoint
the current members?
 2. Regarding the statement: “This process and the work of the Partnership
Fund Board is on hold however, due to the effects of COVID-19”: Given
we are already in Level 1 now, have they had any more meetings?
 3. Regarding the statement: "For the period 1 April 2019 to 31 March
2020, the Board met three times": May I kindly request the full
meeting minutes of these 3 meetings and full meeting minutes of any
further meetings they had after 31 March 2020.

We have transferred the first part of your request to the Office of Hon
Peeni Henare, Minister for Youth. This part of your request is believed to
be more closely connected with the functions of the Minister for Youth. In
these circumstances, we are required by section 14 of the Official
Information Act to transfer your request.

You will hear further from the Office of the Minister for Youth concerning
that part of your request.

Yours sincerely
