Dear B Clarke

Response to your request for official information

Thank you for your request under the Official Information Act 1982 (the Act) on 23 July 2020 to
the Ministry of Health (the Ministry) for:

made pursuant to the Official Information Act 1982.

Please kindly provide copies of the following documents (or documents of a similar

nature):

(i) any documents which show the aggregate costs to the New Zealand Government

associated with the operation of the Managed Isolation policy ("the policy");

(i ) any documents which show the aggregate costs to the New Zealand Government

associated with the operation of the policy on a "per taxpayer" or "per New Zealand citizen
or resident" basis (or any similar particularised basis);

(i i) any documents which show the amount that the New Zealand Government is paying

(iv) any documents which show the source of funds that the New Zealand Government is

using to pay for the costs associated with the operation of the policy.”

The Ministry has identified three documents within scope of your request. Two of these
documents were part of the third tranche of COVID-19 information which was proactively
released on the Unite against COVID-19 website on 31 July 2020:
  •  Memorandum: Joint paper on Managed Arrivals -
https:/ covid19.govt.nz/assets/resources/proactive-release-2020-july/B14-Health-Report-
Joint-Paper-on-Managed-Arrivals-5-May-2020.pdf; and

•  Health Report: Additional Draw Down on the Managed Arrivals Contingency -

The third document, Health Report: COVID-19: Funding managed isolation and quarantine

expect publication in around 6 weeks from today.

I trust this information fulfils your request. Under section 28(3) of the Act you have the right to
ask the Ombudsman to review any decisions made under this request.

Yours sincerely
