Official information request for information regarding the Democracy 
Project 
 
I refer to your request for information under the Official Information Act 1982 (the Act) 
dated 15 July 2020: 
 
1.  a copy of any proposal documents held by the university leading to the 
establishment of the project, 
2.  a copy of all correspondence relating to the proposal, any information held 
about negotiations in relation to the proposal, and the information held about 
acceptance of the final proposal, 
3.  any information relating to the costs incurred by the university, including 
hosting, insurance, etc, and 
4.  a copy of any contracts that may exist in relation to the project. 
 
The Act requires that we advise you of our decision on your request no later than 20 
working days after the day we received your request. Unfortunately, it will not be possible 
to meet that time limit and we are therefore writing to notify you of an extension of the 
time to make our decision, to 9 September 2020. We will try our best to respond to you 
before that date. 
 
This extension is necessary because consultations necessary to make a decision on your 
request are such that a proper response cannot reasonably be made within the original 
time limit. 
 
You have the right to seek an investigation and review by the Ombudsman of this 
decision. Information about how to make a complaint is available at
