Devices Policy - Draft
The Council current policy for staff states “that no person shall use or seek to use cameras and or
mobile phones with cameras in the changing room”. Upon reviewing the policy, the Council has
decided to elaborate on the policy in regards to use of camera. In May 2019 a draft policy was
developed which has yet to be finalised but is being implemented at the facility.
The Council has a responsibility to protect the privacy of all who visit or work in the facility. A
policy was developed so that visitors who wanted to film or take photos are able to do so in a safe
manner that protects the privacy of individuals. To film or take photos in the facility requires
visitors to seek permission before taking photos or filming. It is the staff’s responsibility to ensure
that this is fol owed by enquiring with visitors if they have sought permission and if not to ask
them to stop immediately.
Right of review
If you are not satisfied the Council’s response to your requests and matters raised, you may
choose to make a complaint with the Office of the Ombudsman. Further information is available
on the Ombudsman website,
www.ombudsman.parliament.nz.

Thank you again for your request. I trust this information is of assistance to you.
Kind regards
