OFFICIAL INFORMATION ACT REQUEST  
 
I refer to your official information request of Wednesday 22 April 2020 that asked for: 
 
Over the past three years: 
a) How many Maori women (and what percentage of the total number of applicants) applied for Tier 2 roles 
or above? 
b) How many Maori women (and what percentage of the total number of successful applicants) were 
successful y appointed to the jobs which they applied for at Tier 2 or above? 
We are asking this question of all public sector departments. 
 
The Ministry has one Tier 1 role, the Ministry’s Chief Executive, with this role being appointed by the State 
Services Commissioner. The State Services Commission has advised that they wil  be responding to you with 
regard to agency Chief Executive roles. 
 
With regard to Tier 2 roles, as part of the Ministry’s recruitment process, we do not request applicants to disclose 
their ethnicity. Therefore, we have no information to provide.   
 
However, for question b), whilst we do not hold the information to answer your question as it has been asked, we 
can advise that over the past three years, out of five Tier 2 vacancies during this time, four women have been 
appointed, one appointment being to a Māori woman.
