HUI FOR TE WHARE KAKANO 16th March 2011.
Present: Hana, Sue, Sarah, Charlene, Vivianne, Rachael, Tania, Cara, Geraldine and Ari.

1. Karakia
2. Thanks to Cara for picking up some apples for TeWhare Kakano from Whaea
Marama. The tamariki have really enjoyed eating them up.
3. ASB Polyfest: This Friday the tamariki will be leaving at 8:30am and returning
approximately 3pm. The tamariki will be given an activity sheet related to the day to
help them record the day.
There will be 3 -4 adults travelling with two cars. Each child will be assigned to
a particular parent for the day. There will be 3 children per adult.
Please remember to send them with one or two bottles of water and a packed
lunch. Please remember sunscreen and hats.
All children need to wear their uniform (if they have one).
The cost is $5.00 per person (anyone under 5 is free) also there is a small
charge for petrol. So the total cost per person is $8.00.
Thanks to you all for having paid this before this meeting.
4. Highams Camp: This is a Room 2 and 3 camp and we have been invited to visit
during one of the days. We will be leaving at 8:30am on 31st March and returning
by 3pm. Tamariki do not need to wear their uniform for this day but send them with
water, sunscreen, hat, and food.
Transport permission forms need to be filled in before the children can go.
Hana will be encouraging the children to collect sand, shells and resource to
make a collage when they come back to school.
The whanau has asked Hana to see if the tamariki can use their class trip
fund of $5.00 to cover the food for the day.
5. Fundraising: Hana has presented a sheet showing income and expenditure.
Tania explained the figures to parents and some specific details about what items
are included in this report. Parents have requested a copy of the breakdown of
these specific expenditures.
Also parents would like copy of breakdown of the costs of going to Te Papa.
This will be available before or at the next hui. Hana reminded the whanau of
the idea of paying a smal amount into the office to go towards their tamariki’s
costs.
Hana asked Sue to ask Raj to look out for cheap flights to Wellington with the
view to prepaying and booking well ahead i.e. four months ahead. Any parents
that find any cheap flights could notify Hana asap.
The cost of the parent helpers needs to be covered by the cost each child is
paying. Hana will check out the financial costs and parent helpers required and
bring this information to the next hui. Decisions need to be made.
Ari wanted to run a raffle. Sue said any raffles need permission from Sean
before this is undertaken.
Mother Day Raffle is cancelled.

Easter Hamper Raffle money is to be handed into Charlene by 8th April.
This will be drawn 13th April.
13 May Parakai School is holding the Kaipara Triathlon here. This is an
opportunity to fundraise. Decisions about this will be made on wk 11
Wednesday 13th April @ 6:30pm.
6. Family Fun Night: Charlene wanted to thank all the parents who helped out that
night. It was very successful – profit $541.05. So Cool. Rachael acknowledged a
fantastic effort from Charlene. Charlene is withdrawing from the fundraising
committee as she has a lot of other commitments. She will still be available to help.
The current committee is Charlene, Ari, Vivianne and Sue Heta.
7.
Working Bee: Cara would like a working bee to help clean out the classroom. At
the moment we are having a few problems with fleas. Mark has already sprayed
once this year. Hana will speak to him about the ongoing problem.
Thursday 28th April @ 10am is our working bee. Hana will write up a suggestion
list to help guide parents.
8. Other business: Ari is concerned about what happened to the extra cooked
sausages and where they went to. Hana said the next day the cooked sausages
and fruit were shared with the tamariki. The drinks and uncooked sausages will be
sold on later.
9.
Minutes: Parents commented that they never received the last minutes from 15th
February. Sue will ask Robyn to send both 15 Feb and 16th March minutes out to
the whanau.
10.
Next hui is on Wednesday 13th April @ 5:30pm. Everyone needs to bring a plate
of kai for a shared tea.
