Kapea, Trishya Hemana, Rachael Taitimu and Geraldine Morgan.
Apologies: Ari Panui, Sue Heta and Sjaan Mekkelholt.
1. Mata is now unable to take on the relieving for the rest of Term Two.
2. Whanau need to decide what they would like to happen with the unit.
Discussion followed.
3. Queries from Whanau: Do we have to have a reliever or can we find
someone and put them in fulltime. Sean explained that we legally have to
advertise any available position and this process takes some time.
4. Trish brought her first cousin Ngāwini to visit the school during the holidays.
Trish said Ngāwini would like to work in our school and that she would be
interested in undertaking the relieving position after Hana leaves in week four
until the end of week ten of Term Two.
Sean said there was no legal problem with her applying to relieve however, he
explained that it was important to understand that if she undertakes the
relieving position she is
not guaranteed the full time position.
She would have to apply like any other candidate and go through the interview
process.
5. There was some discussion about the interview process and the likelihood of
Marama being on the selection panel and possibly one other Whanau
member.
6. Sean will phone Ngāwini tomorrow (Tuesday 1.5.12) to discuss the relieving
position.
Question from Sean: What if there is a gap between the time of Hana
leaving and of Ngāwini being able to start. The Whanau agrees that we can
put in a reliever. The vote to accept this proposal was unanimous.
7. A suggestion from Sean was that there is a welcome meeting for Ngāwini.
The Whanau agreed.
Meeting closed: 7pm
