Tēnā koe Mr Farrar
I am writing further to my letter to you dated 25 March 2020, which was in
response to your request of 2 March 2020, for information regarding prisoners
serving less than three years’ imprisonment.
My response to you dated 25 March 2020 advised that, as at 30 November
2019, 1,985 individuals were serving a sentence of less than three years’
imprisonment and these individuals had an average of 50 convictions.
In preparing the response for your further request for a breakdown of this
information, Corrections has re-examined the dataset used for that response.
Unfortunately, we have identified that due to a transcription error we provided
you with incorrect information.
I can confirm that the average number of convictions for this group is 30, not 50.
I apologise for this error.
Please note, your further request about this matter received 26 March 2020 (our
ref C120438) will be responded to separately.
Ngā mihi nui
