Dear Albert, 
I am writing in regard to your Official Information Act request of 27 January regarding domestic 
applicants to the Medical (MB ChB) and Dentistry (BDS) programmes through the Health Science 
First Year course for 2020.  
 
Thank you for agreeing to extend the due date for your request until 31 March when we anticipated 
that we would have finalised data for the 2020 year.  Unfortunately, it is no longer possible to meet 
that time limit and I am therefore writing to formally notify you of an extension under section 
15A(1)(b) of the Act.   
The extension is due to the time needed to complete consultation in the preparation of the response 
in light of the Covid 19 lockdown.  I am thus advising that the response will now be provided no later 
than Friday1 May (20 working days).  I have specified this timeframe to ensure there is sufficient 
time to prepare the response, however, I will endeavour to provide the information well in advance 
of this date. 
I note your right to seek an investigation and review by the Ombudsman about this extension under 
section 28(3) of the Official Information Act.
