Thank you for your request for official information, received on 28 December 2019 requesting the 
following information under the Official Information Act (1982): 
 
1. 
the total number of PGY 1 house officers positions advertised solely for NZREX 
graduates from 2014 to 2020. 
2. 
The data broken down by the year and the number of positions. 
 
Capital & Coast District Health Board (CCDHB) recruits RMOs including PGY1 for all non-trainee 
positions at CCDHB, Hutt Valley District Health Board (HVDHB) and Wairarapa District Health Board 
(WDHB). This is a combined response to your OIA request on behalf of CCDHB, HVDHB and WDHB.

There is a Ministry of Health target of the number of PGY 1 that we are required to appoint to positions 
each year. Due to the required increase in PGY1 numbers since 2015 we had no positions (runs) suitable 
in Q1, 2017, 2018, 2019 for NZ REX Applicants. We review when vacancies occur if they are suitable for 
a NZREX and, if so, advertise.
