This letter is in response to your request for review of information under the
Official Information Act dated 27th August 2019.
The estimated direct cost to police of required resourcing and of icer’s time
involved in duties regarding the Ihumatao occupation was:

This estimated costing has been prepared basing direct personnel cost on the
average of the salary pay-band per man-day for each rank of officer attending
this incident during the period 1 July 2019 – 31 December 2019. The marginal
operational costs are the actual directs costs as recorded in the NZ Police
financial management system in regards to our attendance to duties at this event.
This does not include any overhead costs.
The overall staffing numbers, ranks and District are outlined in the following table.
During July 18 staff were utilised from Northland, 11 from Bay of Plenty and 8
from Waikato.
During August 8 staff were utilised from Northland, 5 from Waikato and 8 from
Bay of Plenty.
Al other staff were from Tamaki Makarau.

The totals in the attached document are broken down into individual shifts not
actual staff. Eg: Inspectors for July (64 shifts) could be 10 Inspectors doing 6 or 7
shifts each.
