RESPONSE TO OIA 2019-288 JACK HAZLEHURST

On 10 September 2019, we responded to you to asking to provide a suitable contact phone number
so that we could contact you. As of today’s date we have not heard back from you.
GWRC’s response follows:
In accordance with section 10(2) of the Local Government and Official Information and Meetings
Act 1987 (the Act), requests for information are required to be specified with due particularity in the
request. Due to lack of particularity as to the information requested, I am unable to respond to your
request.
Below is information regarding future application programme interface (API) developments relating
to realtime information in Wellington.
We are aware that some parties have been informally accessing our website API’s to access
information for third-party public transport and journey planning apps. However, these API’s were
not intended to be open for public consumption. As a result, GWRC has been working to develop
open API’s for public transport data so the public can access and use data that is supported.
The open data platform is due for release in late October 2019, and will feature ‘official’ APIs for
public consumption.  This platform will include comprehensive documentation and guidance on
how to use these APIs through a self-service developer portal.
We hope that this new open data platform will go some way to answering your questions, but please
feel free to make contact with us again if you require further information.
If you have any concerns with the decision(s) referred to in this letter, you have the right to request
an investigation and review by the Ombudsman under section 27(3) of the Act.

Yours sincerely

Greg Pollock
General Manager, Public Transport
