Thank you for your writing to the  Ministry of  Education on 7 August 2019 to  request the following 
information: 
• All  communication between  Matamata  College  and the Ministry of Education regarding
the proposed site for the stadium behind the College.
• All  communication  between the  Ministry of Education  and the  Matamata Piako  District
Council regarding the proposed site for the stadium behind the College.
Your request has been considered under the Official Information Act 1982 (the Act). 
I  am  providing  five  emails  between  Matamata  College  and  the  Ministry,  as  well  as  minutes  of a 
meeting on 4 July 2018.  See Appendix 1. 
I am withholding the contact numbers of Ministry staff and the school Principal under section 9(2)(a) 
of the Act. I have identified no public interest consideration favouring the release of this information. 
I am also redacting some information unrelated to the proposed site.  I would like to note that verbal 
communications that  have  occurred between the  Ministry,  school,  and  Council  on  this  matter are 
reflected in the meeting notes from 4 July 2018. 
As you may be aware, no formal proposal has been put forward to the Ministry yet. If suitable funding 
is secured for the construction of the proposed gymnasium its ownership and location will be subject 
to  agreement  with  the  Ministry  of  Education  and  consultation  with  the  community  for  resource 
consent.
