I refer to your email of 30 April 2024 in which you request the following under the Official
Information Act 1982 (OIA):
Please release all documents received by New Zealand under Article 19 and 20 of the
Protocol on the Accession of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland to
the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans Pacific Partnership.
As of the date of your request, New Zealand (in its capacity as CPTPP Depositary) has received
notifications from Japan, Singapore and Chile under Article 20 of
The Protocol on the Accession of
the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland to the Comprehensive and Progressive
Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership. This information is withheld in full under section 6(b)(i)
of the OIA, to protect the passing of information from another government on a confidential
basis.
No notifications have been received under Article 19
and we therefore refuse this part of your
request under section 18(e) of the OIA, as the information requested does not exist.
Please note that it is our policy to proactively release our responses to official information
requests where possible. Therefore, our response to your request (with your personal information
removed) may be published on the Ministry website:
