Thank you for your email of 16 April 2024 to the Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment
requesting, under the Official Information Act 1982, the following:
I hereby request the fol owing information from INZ for the Parent residence category (last 6
months):
1. The total number of medical waivers submitted for consideration.
2. The number and percentage of these medical waivers that were approved.
3. The number and percentage of these medical waivers that were declined.
On 3 May 2024, we asked you to clarify whether you were requesting data relating to the current
parent category instructions only, or if you also wanted us to include the applications submitted under
the previous criteria pre-October 2019.
On the same day, you responded with the fol owing:

Our Response
Between 30 October 2023 and 29 April 2024, there are 30 applications under the
current Parent
Category criteria that have had medical waivers submitted for consideration. Of these, 19 (63.3 per cent)
applications have had their medical waivers approved, four (13.3 per cent) have had their medical
waivers declined, and seven (23.3 per cent) are in-progress.
Between 30 October 2023 and 29 April 2024, there is one application under the
previous Parent
Category criteria that had a medical waiver submitted for consideration. This medical waiver was
declined.
